Scheffau is perfectly positioned in the centre of both the Wilder
Kaiser Mountains and the Kitzbuheler Alpes's rolling hills to ensure there
is an activity for everyone at the right level. Whilst Chalet Heidi offer
accompanied walks and rides and offer guided walks and rides within their "Summer
Package", for the more adventurous we would introduce guests to one of many
activity companies along the valley. Families are exceptionally well catered for, see below for further details. |

| Walking Scheffau offers a massive range of walks from valley walks to mountain peaks. Guests will find a range of graded walks detailed in Chalet Heidi which may be used daily. We introduce guests to the area, with staff accompanying guests on a suitably graded walk, whilst pointing out other walking opportunities. Guided walks are also available from the tourist office, just 5 minutes from the chalet. On all walks, there will be ample stopping points for refreshment and lubrication! The Mayr Wilder Kaiser 1:35,000 map (available from the tourist office) shows hundreds of kilometres of walks throughout the region and is an invaluable guide. Using the Wilder Kaiser Mountains directly behind Chalet Heidi, guests can find a range of scrambling and climbing opportunities. There are several via ferrata routes over the mountains which are easily accessed. However, do not under estimate these mountains which, at 2344m (7700ft) are nearly twice the height of Ben Nevis! Depending on guests' experience, we would recommend (and can arrange) the use of a local mountain guide or instructor for much of the scrambling and climbing on the Wilder Kaiser. Companies include: Alpinpartner at www.alpinpartner-tirol.at and www.outdoorhofer.com Whether you enjoy road biking or mountain biking, Scheffau offers a wide range of routes of varying difficulty. Cycle routes are clearly marked in the area. Most cables cars allow mountain bikes to be taken up the mountain so you can cycle around the Ski Welt hills and then an have an exhilarating run back down to the valley! Fitter guests may like the challenge of cycling up the mountain without using the cable car! A range of bikes can be hired from Scheffau centre, although Chalet Heidi also has a few mountain bikes available to rent on a daily basis. After a good walk, there is nothing nicer than to splash around in a pool or thrash out a few lengths. With two amazing swimming pools on either side of Scheffau, guests are spoilt for choice. Both centres have indoor and outdoor pools and both cater exceptionally well for children. Indeed, a whole day could easily be spent lounging around the grassy poolside, whilst the children play in the safe environment. The swimming pool at Soll, "PanoramaBad" is well positioned at the foot of the main gondola and entry is free if you have the 3 or 5 day lift pass including swimming pool. This makes the lift system, walking and swimming particularly good value. The pool at Ellmau, "KaiserBad" is larger and even better equipped for families with younger children. Both pools have restaurants, courts, sauna etc. For even more picturesque bathing, Hintersteinersee offer natural crystal clear water with a truly stunning backdrop, and Badesee in Going offers the facilites of a purpose built pool, within a "real lake" setting including ducks!. Golfers are spoilt for choice of courses in the area, ALL with stunning backdrops only dreamed of in England and barely matched in Scotland!! These courses include:
